Old fashioned names seem to be all the rage now so why not name your baby this vintage name! Origin is old English meaning “mild” or “gentle”. Another variation from the Anglo-Saxon roots also means “power” or “strength”. So this name literally means “gentle strength”. Pretty powerful huh? I’d love to see what this powerhouse will grow up to be! An adorable nickname would be Millie.

So this name has roots in both Hebrew and German. It means “God is my oath” and “favor” or “grace”. So if you’re religious and looking for a beautiful name then here it is! Either way it is a beautiful name that has many nicknames including Anna, Annie, or Lisa.
